Every Airline That I Have Flown On

For my first blog I wanted to give some background of who I am, and as this is going to be an aviation blog I deicided that I would list all the of the airlines that I have ever flown on. This list of airlines comes from across the world and each one has offered a different experience to each other. I would say that I have no preference between most of them though, although each one has been unique in its own right.

British Airways A319 on stand at Jersey Airport

British Airways

British Airways are the airline that I have flown on the most, as well as the only airline that I have flown on on a long haul flight. In my opinion, on shorter European routes, they are almost the exact same as anyone else, but maybe with a slight bit more comfort, as well as the added bonus of a free hold bag which offers them a distinct advantage over airlines like EasyJet and Ryanair in my opinion, potentially justifying a slightly higher price. On long haul routes I have no-one I am able to compare them to but from my experience they are not all that bad, and honestly I haven't ever been in real discomfort on one of their flights. I am looking forward to in the coming years flying on the newer aircraft coming into their fleet like the A320neo, A350 and 787, having flown on their A380 this past summer which I would rank as one of my favourite flights that I have ever done.

Flybe Dash 8-Q400 at Jersey Airport

Flybe

I love Flybe mainly due to their opperations from smaller reigonal airports like Southampton and their use of smaller aircraft. The 2-2 configuration on their Dash-8 aircraft is one of my favourite configurations due to only having to sit next to one other person. My only issue with these aircaraft is that a rather large proportion of their windows have only got a view of the engine which is at the same height as the windows, blocking almost all of the view. I could also imagine that the noise could be a bit irrating on their longer flights than the short half hour hops from Southampton to Jersey that I only ever fly them on. I do hope however that they continue to retain opperations into the future after being surrounded with uncertainty about their future at this time.

EasyJet A319 at Jersey Airport

EasyJet

I must say that the first time I flew on EasyJet I hated it. I found their seats uncomfortable and wasn't really that much of a fan of the flight. However since then my opinion of them has changed and I find it enjoyable flying on them. There have been some interesting experiences I must admit like when we sat on the back row of their aircraft which has no window which I must sat is the most disorientating experience that I have had on an aircraft, moving around without having a clue about where we were. However once on their aircraft their customer experience is normally quite good, for example last christmas they gave out Easyjet branded santa hats whilst boarding their aircraft, which was a nice little touch.

American A330 departing from London Heathrow

American

American airways are almost certainly the worst airline I have flown on. A few years ago I was flying from New York to Miami on one of their 757 aircraft. At this time there was a thunderstorm and yes it might have been a bumpy ride out of New York sitting at the back of the aircraft, however being able to hear the cabin crew in the loo behind us terrified as the plane bumped around is quite unnacepbtable really, and that is the only real memory of have of flying on American Airways unfortunately, although that opinion could change if I fly on them again at some point in the future.

Aeromexico

Really excellent airline. Might have only flown on them for an hour long domestic flight from Cancun to Mexico City, but they were highly highly impressive. Their seats were comfortable and had in flight entertainment installed in all of them, which was a nice and useful touch. The plane had WiFi installed and at the time they were the best short haul airline I had flown on. In my opinion they did short haul as it should be done rather than the race to the lowest fare many airlines currently opperate within Europe and else where.

Cathay Pacific A350 being pushed back in Hong Komg

Cathay Pacific

Honestly I found Cathay Pacific really disappointing. They are supposed to be one of the best airlines in the world yet the 777 I flew on from Hong Kong to Bangkok felt dated and in desperate need of being replaced. I found it really weird how their seat belts were highly padded, which is something I have never experienced before and do not wish to experience again. The seat back screeens were also quite dated and I felt the seat felt quite cramped. This aircraft felt forgotten about and unloved and was a huge dissapointment really and was not what I expected for an aircraft in 2018.

Thai A330 on stand in Hong Kong

Thai

Honestly I found them absolutely brilliant. Their A330 which I flew on from Bangkok to Phuket had a bright colourful cabin, with plently of leg room. The flight was short but comfortable. I am a very big fan of only having 2 seats on the outer sides on the A330. Also their price was exceptional for the flight from Bangkok to Phuket, costing the same as all the other budget carriers on the route like Lion Air and AirAsia with hold baggage and a snack also thrown in. Would highly recommend if they come at a good price, especially compared to some of the asian budget carriers.

JetStar A320 taxiing in Phuket

Jetstar Asia

Flight was absolutely standard and there isn't really anything to comment about it really. Only comment about the airline is that they do enforce their cabin baggage weight limit, literally weighing bags at check in, something which I find a little bit frustrating, especially as if it is over weight you would be forced to check it into the hold which like all over budget airlines will cost you quite significantly. This is especially bad due to the fact that any checked bags will have already been taken away by this point, offering absolutely no choice at all.

Alaska Air 737 on stand in Las Vegas

Alaska Air

Were pretty impressive. Flying on one of their ex Virgin America Aircraft they had inflight entertainment on a short flight. They also offered free drinks something which whilst small is quite highly appreciated. Staff on board were also quite impressive and seemed to care about the company that they work for. Very good airline and would reccomend very highly.
